From a simple posy of flowers fresh from your garden to an elaborate heart-shaped wreath of roses and everything in between, the choices of floral tributes are wide and varied.

Flowers

Traditionally, you would have an arrangement of flowers sitting on the casket at the funeral service. They remain on the casket for the journey to the final resting place. These flowers represent the immediate family. These days, there are very many options when it comes to flowers. In South Canterbury, there are some beautiful florists we work with. Our florists can design something for your loved one based on their preference of flowers, their favourite colour or their heritage. 

The floral tribute may not even be floral at all!
Gardeners often opt to have freshly dug vegetables arranged into a tribute composition because it represents their love for their veggie patch. If you loved enjoyed a favourite drink or played sport, those elements could be incorporated as well.

​If they belonged to a particular cultural group, the florist could intertwine cultural emblems with native grasses, reeds and flowers for a more meaningful send-off.

If you’ve chosen to have a selection of memorabilia on display with the casket, our florist can ensure that the tribute she designs fits with the overall theme tastefully. Alternately you may want to bring or make a posy of flowers yourself. A small branch of spring blossom, fresh herbs or artificial or material flowers can be effective.
