Our annual Candle Lighting Service is held in both Waimate and Timaru Chapels. We all come together to remember and honour loved ones in a quiet and reflecting atmosphere. Our service is officiated by a group of local funeral celebrants hosted by Shelley and Jim Wilson, owners of Aoraki Funeral Services.

Annual Candle Lighting 

Every year, just before the Christmas season, we hold a special Candle-Lighting Ceremony to pay tribute to those who have died.

​We invite members of all the families we have looked after both recently and in past years; to come to our chapel and participate in an evening of remembrance and love.

Everyone is Welcome

We signify our connection with the spirit and memory of those loved ones by coming together and lighting a candle for them. This is not a religious service though it is very moving and meaningful.  

It’s simply a coming together of people who wish to honour their loved ones in a relaxed and peaceful environment, surrounded by others who have shared similar experiences.
