When you have to fly at short notice the cost of airfares are often higher than when you can book months in advance. This can cause financial hardship for some. You may be able to apply for compassionate airfares if you are travelling to a family members funeral.

What is Required

A number of airlines operating in New Zealand provide compassionate airfares to family members who are travelling to a funeral. Airlines which provide this service usually require a letter from the Funeral Director certifying the death and mentioning the relationship of travellers to the deceased.
  • We will need the full names of people travelling to the funeral.
  • Advice of their relationship to the deceased.
You may wish to contact the airline you plan to use prior to making your booking and ask them if they offer a compassionate fare. It is very likely they will help you through the process.

Naturally, we are happy to assist you in obtaining compassionate discounts for travel either before or after the travel has taken place.
Our Funeral Director's are always available to help you should you have any questions. You are always welcome to contact us
