Many families like to put a notice in the local newspaper. If there are family and friends in other parts of New Zealand or the world, you may wish to also place a notice in their local area.

Newspaper Notices

The traditional way to advise friends and extended family of the death of your loved one is by placing a death notice in newspapers in areas where they lived and worked.

Generally speaking, other death notices which close friends and family may place will not be accepted by the newspaper until the primary notice has been delivered to them by the funeral home. This is done to avoid inaccurate information, which may cause confusion or fraudulent notices, which may cause distress.

Placing a newspaper notice is optional.

When you place your funeral notice into the local paper Aoraki Funeral Services will place a notice in The Timaru Courier at no charge to you.
